About Us

The inspiration to set up an internet radio station started over a cuppa in Birmingham, UK. While it was known that there are other internet radio stations that broadcasted on a regular basis, none seemed to do the streets justice, as either they had a lack of live talent or would only broadcast 1 or 2 days a week. Even so, within the Midlands there seemed to be plenty of talent who were not playing on the radio and could not get booked at major events up and down the country, yet they could play skilfully or had superior mixing skills than some ‘commercial’ names.

Consequently, on the 23rd October, 2008 DnBmidlands.com was born, playing all aspects of Drum and Bass, including Jump up, Techstep, Liquid Funk and Old Skool Jungle Techno.

'The poor man possesses the mind and spirit of the scene, while the rich man attempts to hold the poor man down.’ Dnbmidlands.com

It quickly became apparent that there was a similar situation not only in the Midlands, but in most towns and cities across the UK and the globe. This provided the opportunity to broadcast live more hours then any other UK Drum and Bass radio station. DJ’s came on board not only from Birmingham but as far away as Baltimore, USA (home of popular television series ‘The Wire’).

The management (with combined experience of 50 years) knew that they had to take advantage of every opportunity in order to progress not only the talent on the station but to also keep the scene alive and provide something new. As a result, we streamed live events such as Ravelogy, Starlight, Shorty’s, in addition to the national drum and bass awards ceremony. One year later and with over ¼ million unique visitors to our site, it quickly became apparent that we became the middleman between the ravers and the promoters. Ravers came to the site to support, listen and express there opinions to like minded people.

Running an internet radio station is an expensive venture, but with support from many Promoters, DJ’s and most importantly the Ravers, it allowed us to build new servers which could hold significantly more listeners, put on events to expose talent and build a new website. We have many more plans for the future, but we would rather show you then talk about it now.

Meanwhile, come and be part of the station and see how far this UK music can progress. Nuff Luv, Peace x
